James Kemp
James Kemp is the Managing Director of the GFMA’s Global FX Division, having established it in 2010 and now developed it to become the driving force representing the 25 largest dealers in the global FX market, with representation in Europe, Americas and Asia.
GFXD works with key regulators and supervisors on policy and regulatory developments, seeking to ensure harmonized regimes that enable an effective global FX market for all participants. It then supports members in implementing regulations and identifying areas where common standards or understanding of good practice would be beneficial.
He also has management responsibility for AFME’s Technology and Operations Division which he created in 2016 as well as the Compliance, Control & Accounting (CCA) Division.
He remains heavily involved with efforts to enhance industry conduct, having been instrumental in establishing the Global FX Code work. He is a Board member of the UK’s FICC Market Standards Board. He sits on the Bank of England’s FX Joint Standing Committee and is also currently an ICSA Board member.
He has been a strategy consultant at The LEK Partnership as well as UK Head of Equities and Fixed Income Products at Reuters. He was the founder and managing director of the financial markets technology consultancy, Stentra, a market leader in FX e-trading, sold to ION Trading. He is a Trustee of the Clive Richards Foundation.
